Mavericks vs Spurs ended 112-111 on Wednesday with Victor Wembanyama scoring a career-high 52 points, and on the question of which team has the best cars, the only car attached to his name in anything we could verify is a Nissan Z roadster he didn’t fit in.
The Spurs won 112-111 in San Antonio, according to the Associated Press report carried by NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. Wembanyama also set career highs with 24 rebounds and 8 blocks. Kyrie Irving scored 29 for Dallas and missed a contested 15-foot turnaround with about three seconds left. Cooper Flagg had 19 points on a poor shooting night.

For this Mavericks vs Spurs car comparison, we kept to what has a date and a named source: a video post, two AP reports and a 2017 local news story.
Wembanyama’s record
On March 3, 2025, Spurs fan Mark Burnett posted a video to X, credited to Tony Ross on Facebook, of Wembanyama at a local car dealership trying a Nissan Z roadster. Sports Illustrated’s write-up the next day quotes Burnett’s caption: Wembanyama “definitely didn’t fit in this one.”
That write-up names no dealership and no model year, and we found no record of a purchase. Nissan’s two-seat Z roadsters came in the 350Z and 370Z generations, and its latest Z news on this site is a SEMA concept that puts the current car’s twin-turbo V6 into an original S30.
Dallas’s record
Flagg’s documented car time is one day at Texas Motor Speedway. The AP reported on May 3, 2026 that the 6-foot-9 forward was the honorary pace car driver for a NASCAR Cup race there, and that hours earlier he rode as a passenger in a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette driven by Connor Zilisch, at “well over 100 mph.” Flagg said: “I’ve never been in a car going that fast, so it was pretty cool.”

The AP report doesn’t name the pace car’s make or model, and doesn’t say whether the Corvette was the car he led the field in. Pace car assignments have a history of their own, as our list of every Indy 500 pace car shows.
Irving’s entry is older. CBS Boston reported on Sept. 22, 2017 that his Jeep broke down outside Bentley University on the way to the Celtics’ practice facility in Waltham after he put the wrong fuel in it. Four people stopped to offer him a ride, apparently without knowing who he was, and he was about 45 minutes late to a meeting with coach Brad Stevens before team equipment staff picked him up. It is the only Irving car record we could confirm.
A documented NBA garage looks different. LeBron James’s custom Maybach S 680 has an auction lot and a no-reserve sale attached to it. Nothing comparable has surfaced for Wembanyama, Flagg or Irving.
Mavericks vs Spurs: best cars
On the record we could verify, Dallas has more to show: a Corvette ride at more than 100 mph and a pace car assignment for Flagg, and a Jeep story for Irving, against one Nissan Z video for San Antonio. None of it is a title or a registration, so the ranking is about paper, not metal.
The teams meet again Feb. 9 in Dallas. Mavericks vs Spurs, best cars: do you give it to Dallas, with a Corvette ride and a Jeep on the wrong fuel, or to San Antonio, with a Nissan Z that didn’t fit?
