About Us

Backfire News is an independent, enthusiast-run publication covering off-roading, motorsports, trucks, and the lifestyle that ties it all together. We started this because we love this world – the early mornings at the track, the smell of race fuel, the dented tailgates and the stories behind every build.

We’re not a giant media company. We’re a small crew of people who actually drive, wrench, race, and show up to the events we write about. Everything you read here comes from that place – real passion for the grit, speed, and community that make this scene what it is.

Our Mission

Simply put, we want to tell the stories the big outlets tend to skip. That means original reporting, honest commentary, and features that celebrate the people and machines driving this culture forward.

To us, motorsports has always been about more than who crosses the line first. It’s culture, community, and the kind of obsession that gets people out of bed at 5 a.m. on a Saturday. That’s the spirit we try to bring to everything we publish.

What We Cover

Our coverage spans the full world of motorsports and outdoor lifestyle:

Racing

From motocross and rally to desert racing, drag racing, grassroots circuits, and the up-and-coming series worth keeping an eye on.

Off-Roading

Trails, rigs, recovery gear, and the adventures that come with leaving the pavement behind.

Trucks & Builds

Feature builds, performance upgrades, maintenance know-how, gear reviews, and the customization trends we’re seeing in driveways and shops.

Lifestyle

Camping, travel, outdoor gear, event coverage, and conversations with the people shaping the scene.

Community & Culture

The clubs, the meetups, the rivalries, and the friendships – because the people are the best part.

Our Editorial Approach

We do our best to get it right. Here’s what that looks like for us:

  • Publishing original articles and analysis
  • Doing our best to verify information before we publish
  • Skipping the clickbait and misleading headlines

We care about transparency and integrity in everything we put out. That said, much of what we cover moves fast and comes from a wide range of sources – including tips, social media, and material sent to us by readers and third parties. We’re human, and sometimes details turn out to be incomplete or wrong. When that happens, we want to fix it.

Where a story discusses events or individuals and matters haven’t been confirmed by an official source, our reporting and commentary should be understood as allegations and our own opinions and interpretation, rather than statements of established fact. We never intend to assert anything as proven fact unless it’s clearly supported, and we’re always open to being corrected.

Legal Disclaimer

Please read this section carefully. By accessing and using Backfire News, you acknowledge and agree to the following.

Informational & Opinion Content

All content on Backfire News is provided for general informational, news, and entertainment purposes only. Articles frequently contain commentary, analysis, and opinion, and any such statements represent the personal views, interpretations, and opinions of the authors. Unless a statement is expressly identified as confirmed and supported by a named, verifiable source, any statement concerning a person, company, product, team, event, or organization should be understood as alleged, as a matter of opinion, and as our good-faith interpretation of the information available to us – not as a statement of established or proven fact.

Nothing on this site is intended to be, and should not be relied upon as, professional, legal, financial, mechanical, safety, or technical advice. Motorsports and off-road activities are inherently dangerous; any technical descriptions, build details, or how-to content are shared for general interest only, and you are solely responsible for your own safety and decisions.

Fair Comment & No Defamation Intended

Our coverage and commentary are offered as fair comment on matters of public interest and are not intended to defame, disparage, or harm the reputation of any person or entity, or to state or imply that any individual or organization has engaged in unlawful or improper conduct. The mention or depiction of any person, vehicle, brand, team, or business – including in headlines, photos, or captions – is not an accusation of wrongdoing and should not be read as one. Any inference of fact a reader draws is the reader’s own and is not intended by us.

Third-Party & User-Submitted Content

A significant amount of the material we publish – including tips, photos, videos, quotes, and information – originates from third parties, readers, social media, press releases, and other external sources. We do not create, control, or independently verify all of this material, and we cannot guarantee its accuracy, completeness, authenticity, or origin.

Any opinions, statements, or materials submitted by or attributed to third parties are those of the submitter or source and do not necessarily reflect the views of Backfire News. By submitting content to us, you represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to the content, that it does not infringe the rights of any third party, and that you grant Backfire News a non-exclusive right to publish, display, edit, and distribute it. You agree to be solely responsible for any content you submit and to indemnify and hold Backfire News harmless from any claim arising out of content you provide.

Photo & Image Use

Many of the photos and images on this site come from reader submissions, social media, press materials, and other third-party sources. We make a genuine effort to use images appropriately and to credit sources where we can. Because of how this material reaches us, mistakes can happen – an image may be misattributed, used without complete information about its origin, or associated with the wrong context.

We do not claim ownership of images we did not create, and we do not intend to infringe on anyone’s intellectual property or other rights. The presence of any person, vehicle, brand, logo, or trademark in a photo does not imply that party’s affiliation with, sponsorship of, or endorsement of Backfire News, and no image should be interpreted as an accusation against anyone shown in it. Where images are used, we believe such use to be permissible (including, where applicable, as fair use for news reporting and commentary). If you own an image used on this site, believe a photo has been misused or wrongly credited, or would like something corrected or removed, please contact us (see below) and we will promptly review and address your request.
