AI Use Policy

Backfire News is written by people. Every story starts with a human reporter or writer who does the research and writes the first draft.

Where we use AI

We use AI tools only to help edit text that a human has already written, for example to check grammar, tighten wording or suggest clearer phrasing. A human editor reviews and approves every change before publication.

Where we do not use AI

  • We do not publish AI-generated articles.
  • We do not use AI to invent quotes, sources, statistics or facts.
  • We do not use AI to rewrite other publishers’ reporting.
  • We do not present AI-generated images as photographs of real events. Any AI-generated or AI-altered image is labeled.

Accountability

A named editor is responsible for everything we publish, whether or not AI tools were used in editing. If you find an error, tell us at contact@backfirenews.com. See our Corrections Policy and Editorial Standards.
