Jay Leno invited Joe Biden to bring his 1967 Corvette Sting Ray to the Audrain Auto Museum’s Concours d’Elegance at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, and the former president arrived with it on Sunday, October 4, the last day of Audrain Motor Week.
Leno told NBC 10 (WJAR) that he extended the invitation. The Newport Buzz supplied the car’s details. Audrain’s event calendar, when we checked, listed only its 2025 entry, and we found no statement from the museum or from Biden.
The car
The Newport Buzz describes a Goodwood Green convertible with a 327-cubic-inch small-block V8 rated at 350 horsepower and a four-speed manual. Chevrolet also sold the 1967 Sting Ray with 427-cubic-inch big-blocks, so a 350-hp 327 sits below those cars on the order form.
According to the same report, Biden’s father, who managed a Chevrolet dealership in Wilmington, Delaware, gave him the car as a wedding present. His sons Beau and Hunter later had the engine rebuilt and gave it to him for Christmas. The report names no year for the rebuild and no shop. It also says Biden has driven the car on Jay Leno’s Garage.
What the reports leave out
Neither report quotes Biden. Neither says whether the Corvette was entered in the judged classes or parked as a guest display, and neither lists an award for it. A rebuilt engine is a detail concours judges ask about, so whether this car was judged at all is the missing fact.
Leno has been a regular in our coverage lately: the 1,070-hp Toronado built on a Corvette chassis, and his push for Leno’s Law in California.
We found no 2026 concours results from Audrain yet. When they post, the class listings will show whether the Biden Corvette was judged. Does a family Corvette with a rebuilt engine belong on a concours lawn next to untouched originals?
