The best source so far on Ford’s Silverstone hypercar test isn’t Ford. It’s an Instagram post from Argentine motorsport outlet Campeones. Its caption describes new tests following the shakedown at Paul Ricard, ahead of Ford’s debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship next season.
The caption gives no dates, drivers, lap counts or weather. We found no Ford Racing release or social post about the session, and no Ford statement. The car still has no public name.
What Ford has published
Ford Racing’s own write-up of the Paul Ricard programme describes the car as running a 5.4-liter Coyote-based V8 in a blue-and-white camouflage livery. The FIA WEC reported on August 26 that Ford covered more than 1,000 km over three days of running plus the shakedown. Logan Sargeant, Matt Campbell, Tom Blomqvist and Mike Rockenfeller did the driving, with Seb Priaulx and Nick Yelloly collecting feedback. The chassis comes from ORECA. Sargeant said the team “really hit the ground running.”
That same FIA WEC piece laid out what comes next: a three-day simulator session in North Carolina, Portimão in September, then Silverstone, Monza, Imola and MotorLand Aragón in Europe, with COTA and Sebring at year-end. Silverstone was already on the list in August. The list carries no dates for it, so the Instagram post can’t be matched to a specific test day.
Where the program stands
Ford announced last October that it would run its Hypercar program in-house for a 2027 WEC entry, and in July it showed the car for the first time (our coverage). The FIA WEC puts the race debut in the first quarter of 2027, which leaves the year-end COTA and Sebring sessions as the last tests on Ford’s published schedule.
Ford has not said whether the Silverstone running was the test listed in August or an additional one, how many days it lasted, or what it covered. Its next Hypercar testing update on fordracing.com is the first place those details would appear.
No name, no test dates, camouflage paint, and a WEC debut in the first quarter of 2027. Smart sandbagging, or should Ford be showing more by now?
