Cristiano Ronaldo has taken delivery of a Ferrari Daytona SP3, the Italian manufacturer’s tribute to its endurance racing heritage from the early 1970s, adding one of the most exclusive and visually striking Ferraris currently in production to a collection that already includes some of the world’s most desirable automobiles.
The Daytona SP3
The SP3 belongs to Ferrari’s Icona series — a line of cars that prioritize historical design homage and extreme exclusivity over cutting-edge technology. It uses the naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 from the 812 Competizione, producing 840 horsepower in a car built to look like it came from Ferrari’s 24-hour racing program of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Production was limited to 599 examples, each allocated by Ferrari to clients from its approved buyer list.
Getting On the List
Ferrari’s allocation process for Icona and special series cars is not simply a matter of having the money. The company requires buyers to have an established history of Ferrari ownership and, often, a relationship with their local Ferrari dealer. Ronaldo’s acquisition confirms his standing as a priority client — someone Ferrari wants to have associated with its most exclusive products.
The Collection Grows
The Daytona SP3 joins a Ferrari lineup in Ronaldo’s collection that already includes multiple significant models. His public sharing of each new acquisition has made him one of the most visible Ferrari ambassadors in the world outside of the brand’s official relationship with Formula 1 — a form of organic reach the company can’t manufacture through conventional marketing.
