A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing her Uber driver’s vehicle and credit card in Austin, Texas. The incident, which unfolded early Sunday morning, involved 27-year-old Neusha Alexandra Afkami, who was en route to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

A stolen military Humvee has been recovered in California.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Fox 7 Austin, Afkami became impatient with the Uber driver’s speed and took drastic measures. Reportedly, she seized the driver’s phone, hurling it out of the car window. In the confusion that followed, as the driver exited the vehicle to retrieve the phone, Afkami commandeered the 2016 Chevrolet Cruz and sped away, leaving the driver stranded roadside.

Uber drivers are often targets of crime.

The police were alerted and successfully located the stolen vehicle abandoned at an airport terminal. Afkami was apprehended before she could board her flight. During the interrogation, she admitted to commandeering the car, claiming she intended to drop it off at Southwest Airlines due to frustration over the prolonged journey.

Further investigation revealed that Afkami had stolen the Uber driver’s wallet and used a credit card to make purchases totaling approximately $130 at an airport store. The items bought with the stolen card were found in Afkami’s possession at the time of her arrest.

Afkami now faces charges for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, with her bond set at $16,000.
