We’ve encountered plenty of car builds that don’t sit right with us, but this Volkswagen Beetle, dubbed the LIRO BIRO, operates on an entirely different plane. At a glance it seems only mildly altered, yet the more time you spend studying the photos, the stronger an unsettling, not-quite-right sensation takes hold.
Some modifications subtly distort proportions in ways the eye struggles to reconcile, producing exactly that uncanny effect. Whatever the builder’s intentions, the LIRO BIRO is the kind of project that fascinates precisely because it feels so off, proving that creativity in the custom world doesn’t always lead somewhere comfortable, but it certainly leaves an impression.
