A pastel-hued little convertible with an outsized backstory is rolling across the auction stage this month, and its celebrity connection is the kind that turns heads at any car show. This 1958 Nash Metropolitan, finished in teal and white with a matching teal interior, once belonged to singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, who kept the tiny cruiser at his home in Key West, Florida.
Garage-worthy EDC gear, on sale this week.
Listed as Lot ST0138 and carrying VIN E52367, the two-door Metropolitan is powered by its original 1491cc four-cylinder engine paired with a three-speed manual transmission. According to the listing, Buffett originally purchased the car from Ty Houck, owner of Ragtops Motorcars in West Palm Beach, Florida, and eventually sold it back to Ragtops in 2008.
That same year, the little Nash underwent a thorough body restoration. Crews installed new metal floor pans and rocker panels, adjusted the doors and door frames, straightened and rechromed the bumpers, relocated the driver’s mirror to the door, added a matching passenger mirror, and finished the car with a full repaint in its current teal-and-white scheme.

The car’s Buffett provenance is well documented. The sale includes a framed photograph of the musician posing with the Metropolitan, along with a copy of the vehicle’s title showing his name as registered owner. Buyers should note the title is branded as not actual mileage, and the car has been kept in an HVAC-controlled garage.
This quirky little Nash crosses the block during the July 2026 GAA Classic Cars auction, running on Saturday. It’s a rare chance for a collector to own not just a charming slice of 1950s American design, but a piece of Jimmy Buffett’s personal history as well.
