Another fire truck has been stolen, this time in Sacramento, California. It’s the latest example of a troubling trend in which thieves take idling first-responder vehicles and lead police on pointless pursuits.
Such thefts not only endanger the public but also pull critical emergency equipment out of service. The recurring pattern has authorities increasingly concerned about how to secure these vehicles when crews are on scene.
