Although lane splitting is illegal in Florida, one rider did it anyway, darting past a Florida Highway Patrol trooper before apparently realizing his error. He was also reportedly exceeding the speed limit at the time.
The rider seemed to assume the trooper hadn’t noticed his violations, a miscalculation that quickly proved mistaken. Any individual involved is entitled to due process, but the episode served as a reminder that flouting traffic laws near law enforcement rarely goes unnoticed.
