A classic Formula One car displayed in the Silverstone paddock during the British Grand Prix had its steering wheel taken, according to reports. Someone apparently spotted the historic machine and decided to make off with the valuable component while it was on show for fans.
Thefts of this nature are particularly frustrating given the rarity and significance of the parts involved. Vintage racing equipment is often irreplaceable, and the loss of an original piece detracts from the experience of preserving and presenting motorsport history to the public.
