Professional rapper and singer-songwriter Machine Gun Kelly is a polarizing figure in the music industry. Some love his attitude, others think he’s a anarchist face for a corporatized agenda. We don’t have much of an opinion on the guy, but we do approve of his choice in vehicles, in particular his McLaren 720S he’s been spotted driving numerous times.
Find out why Justin Timberlake can’t drive anymore.
McLaren’s answer to other mid-engine, technologically advanced hypercars on the market, the 720S is a marvel on wheels. To create such a vehicle, the British automaker leaned heavily on its Formula One racing experience, resulting in a fiercely svelte machine.
Sitting behind the driver and passenger is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 which pumps out a monstrous 710-horsepower and 568 lb.-ft. of torque. When paired with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the result is blistering 2.6-second 0-60 mph acceleration and a 10.4 seconds on the quarter mile.
While it’s easy to see why Machine Gun Kelly would be drawn to something so powerful and fast, the 720S has so much more to offer. An advanced suspension system works in concert with electro-hydraulic steering and active aero elements for crisp, responsive handling at any speed.
Since it’s a true racecar at heart, this McLaren hypercar is made with a carbon-fiber tub, ensuring excellent torsional rigidity for an even more responsive ride. As MGK pilots his along city streets, he can be assured that no matter what comes up he can handle it.
The cabin is luxurious but not over-the-top, perfect to help the musician feel relaxed and comfortable while cruising to his next appearance. Some feel it should have more flair on the inside, but we find the understated interior to be a nice touch next to the flamboyant body design.
Machine Gun Kelly owns many other impressive rides, but his McLaren 720S might be the most impressive yet.
