A conflict between Koenigsegg and supercar collector erupted into public view last week, turning Instagram into the stage for a rare clash between an automaker and one of its most recognizable customers. The dispute centers on delayed vehicle deliveries, questions about reliability and a growing frustration that has pushed both sides to address the situation openly.
The Hamilton Collection, run by collector Steve Hamilton, launched the first volley by sharing a series of Instagram stories outlining complaints against the Swedish manufacturer. Among them was a long-running wait for the Gemera, a four-seat hypercar still awaiting production years after its debut, as well as an extended delay on Hamilton’s Jesko, which he configured in person at the company’s headquarters.
Hamilton claimed he had been waiting more than two years for the Jesko to arrive. He followed up the complaint with pointed criticism directed at Christian von Koenigsegg himself, mocking the founder with a digitally altered image and demanding delivery of the vehicle. The posts also suggested that other owners had privately shared similar frustrations.
Von Koenigsegg responded directly from his personal Instagram account. In a video post, he addressed the Jesko timeline and showed footage of what he indicated was Hamilton’s completed car awaiting final checks before shipment. His response did not elaborate on the source of the delays but made clear that progress had been made.
The dispute also hinges on Hamilton’s experience with a 2019 Regera purchased second-hand. He said the vehicle has spent the vast majority of its life in service, including an extended recent stay. Von Koenigsegg countered by noting that the Regera was bought through a third-party dealer with no service history for three years and said the company had assisted with repairs at no cost as a courtesy.
Despite some sharp exchanges, Hamilton later said he does not believe Koenigsegg’s employees act in bad faith, emphasizing instead that he wants greater accountability and consistency from the brand. The public back-and-forth has nonetheless captured the attention of the supercar community, highlighting the tensions that can arise when small-batch hypercar manufacturing meets sky-high expectations and online audiences eager for drama.
