Everyone knows comedian and podcast king Joe Rogan loves cars, but he recently took delivery of a modified Tesla Model S Plain that’s supposedly like driving a hypercar. At least that’s what the tuning house which created the wild build claims, thanks to some swapping out of mechanical parts on the Tesla sedan.
Russian drones destroy a classic car museum in Ukraine.
Rogan has talked about his modified Tesla during The Joe Rogan Experience, bragging about how it has a carbon-fiber widebody kit. That means the tires are wider, so bigger contact patches for increased performance.
Created by Unplugged Performance, which is at the forefront of the Tesla modification market, it transformed a stock Model S Plaid, which is already an impressively quick machine, into an S-Apex Plaid which is supposed to eat up turns and thrill the driver further.
One of the big performance upgrades Unplugged Performance does is swap out the factory suspension to help the electric car hug turns in the road better. Drivers are supposed to feel even more confident both on streets and even on the track, since the setup has apparently been perfected in the world of motorsports.
Same goes for the brakes upgrade, pushing well beyond the factory setup. Considering the Plaid has 1000-horsepower on tap, having really strong brakes that can bring the heavy all-electric sedan to a stop quickly is a humongous plus.
But buyers like Rogan get more than just those performance boosts. Each one of these S-Apex builds gets a bespoke interior and exterior, with the customer choosing colors and materials as well as wheels and more.
Instead of going crazy, Rogan went with a tasteful setup with a white exterior and black accents, plus some exposed carbon-fiber weave on the diffuser, spoiler, etc. The black and white theme continues to the interior, with Rogan opting for synthetic leather upholstery, but with diamond stitching and perforations for the cooling feature.
Unplugged Performance has also been pioneering law enforcement upfits for Teslas, allowing more police departments to explore adding the EVs to their fleets.
