Vaughn Gittin Jr., the king of sideways action and brains behind RTR Vehicles, just dropped what he’s calling the ultimate beast in his Mustang arsenal—the 2026 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5. In a fresh clip on his YouTube, Gittin gave gearheads an exclusive peek at this rare street monster, mashing up track-bred looks with raw road power.
Dubbed “the apex of RTR performance offerings,” the Spec 5 packs decades of racing grit and slick engineering. Teaming up with RTR’s chief stylist Lindsay Ross, they crafted a widebody design ripped straight from their drift machines, where form isn’t just flash—it actually works.
“We thought about the design as an aerodynamic system,” Ross explained. “Design should be functional, in my opinion.”
The front and rear flares aren’t just for show; they’ve got hidden vents to keep rubber cool, while chunky rockers and bumper tweaks amp up grip and balance. Carbon fiber? It’s everywhere—splitter, side skirts, even the wake towers out back—shaving pounds while keeping things stupid strong.
Underneath, the Mustang RTR Spec 5 boasts an exhaust system co-developed with Borla, which Gittin proudly calls the “baddest-ass” sounding setup ever installed on an RTR Mustang. The attention to detail extends even to the redesigned fuel door, which had to be engineered to open away from the widebody’s vented fenders — a small but tricky design challenge that Gittin joked was “one of the coolest stupidest things you’ve ever seen.”
Only 50 of these beasts will roll out, each kicking off at $159,999—price includes a donor Mustang GT loaded with Ford’s 401A and Performance goodies.
Handbuilt, wind-cheating, and oozing that classic Mustang DNA, the Spec 5 isn’t just a car. It’s Gittin’s love letter to the legend, cranked to eleven.
