Tom Cruise, known for performing his own daring stunts and his penchant for speed, has been prohibited from purchasing any Bugatti models due to an embarrassing incident that transpired during the premiere of Mission Impossible 3. This occurrence leads Cruise to join celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber, who have similarly been barred from acquiring certain special edition models from high-profile car brands.
Nissan had everyone fooled about bringing back the Hardbody.
Back in 2005, Cruise made headlines by acquiring a luxurious Bugatti, costing over $1 million. The actor, evidently proud of his purchase, opted to flaunt the luxury vehicle around the city and even decided to drive it to the premiere of his much-anticipated film. However, this endeavor to blend promotional stardom with luxury automotive branding didn’t pan out as planned, resulting in Cruise being blacklisted by Bugatti.
The underlying issue wasn’t Cruise’s decision to drive the car to the premiere or flaunt it on the red carpet but his struggle with the passenger-side door of the vehicle. To Bugatti’s dismay, it took the actor more than 40 seconds to open the door, a moment witnessed by thousands of attendees and millions of viewers worldwide. While the audience and fans took the incident light-heartedly, the luxury car manufacturer perceived it as a disrespect to the brand.
The actor made a spectacular entrance at the 2006 premiere with his then-wife Katie Holmes in his Bugatti Veyron, a model known for its 16-cylinder engine and 1001 horsepower. However, the grandeur of the entrance was marred by the awkward struggle with the car door, leading to Bugatti’s decisive action to ban Cruise from any future purchases.
