Actor Alec Baldwin was involved in a car accident Monday afternoon after reportedly crashing his white Range Rover head-on into a tree along Montauk Highway in East Hampton. According to The New York Post, Baldwin, 67, was riding with his brother Stephen when the incident occurred amid rainy conditions near the actor’s longtime home.
Photographs from the scene showed Baldwin appearing shaken but alert as East Hampton police arrived. Both brothers were helped from the vehicle and escorted to shelter from the storm. Fortunately, neither sustained serious injuries. Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the crash, and Baldwin’s representatives have declined to comment.
The Emmy-winning actor was in town for the Hamptons International Film Festival, where he serves as co-chair of the board. He had been moderating film panels and attending events throughout the week leading up to the accident.
The crash took place just a short distance from Baldwin’s East Hampton residence, a property he’s owned since 1995. The home has been on and off the market in recent years — most recently listed for $19 million before Baldwin slashed the asking price by $10 million in early 2024. He later withdrew it from sale that summer, choosing instead to film his TLC reality series The Baldwins there with his family.
Baldwin, who recently celebrated 40 years of sobriety, has long been a fixture in the Hamptons social scene. Still, the incident adds to an already eventful stretch of headlines for the actor. His 2021 Rust tragedy — which involved the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins — continued to shadow his career until charges were formally dismissed in 2024.
Though this latest crash appears to be a minor one, it once again puts Baldwin in the spotlight — this time, for an accident far closer to home.
