There’s something special about a 1968 Dodge Charger. While most have openly fantasized about owning a ’70 or ’69 thanks to The Dukes of Hazzard and other media, we doubt most would really turn their nose up at a clean ’68. However, the one this guy rescues from a field is far from clean, running, or whole.
The 1969 Dodge Charger R/T owned by Bill Goldberg is a unique machine.
Still, he seems pretty happy at the prospect of owning the classic muscle car. Like so many people, he found out about it through his friend who actually owns the Dodge and expressed a desire to sell it. If you’re looking for a deal on a project car, establishing and maintaining good relationships with other enthusiasts is a good idea for this and many other reasons.
Also, the guy who bought this Mopar had the ultimate endorsement for the purchase: his wife being more enthusiastic about it than he was. A lot of men would kill for such a thing, so we hope the guy realizes how lucky he is.
As you can clearly see from the image, the ‘68 Charger is missing its trunk lid, doors, hood, front clip, drivetrain, powertrain, interior, glass, etc. Plus it’s covered in a well-earned field patina. It’s mostly free of rust, but there is some worrying corrosion on the metal in a few spots.
The good news is the friend didn’t just sell the shell of a Mopar muscle car. He also had an engine and transmission they loaded onto the trailer. They hunted down other parts for the ride that were scattered around the field, including a rear axle, doors, steering wheel, grille, front fenders, and various trim pieces.
What would you do with this ride, considering its current state? Would you restore it, go for a restomod, or something else?
