People make some of the weirdest things for reasons known only to them, like this miniature classic Camaro Z/28 that’s actually a Volkswagen Beetle. That’s right, someone looked at their old Bug and thought it would look better as a squished muscle car for reasons only known to them. And someone else paid to own the contraption.

This weird build was recently listed on Bring A Trailer, where you can find some of the oddest rides on the internet. Not surprisingly, it didn’t go for big money, with the final bid reaching $9,100. Still, the fact someone was willing to spend their hard-earned cash on this thing is nothing short of amazing.
The creator fabricated a custom fiberglass body from scratch, a process we imagine must have taken a ridiculous amount of time. It replaces the Type 1 panels, bolting onto the VW chassis. It has plenty of swagger with the blue paint and gradient blue stripes, plus Ansen Sprint alloy wheels and LED underglow lights for when you really want to turn heads.
Of course, if you open the hood there’s nothing underneath. But pop the trunk and you’ll find the 2.3-liter flat-four engine with dual Weber carbs. At least as the driver you get to row through the gears, thanks to the four-speed manual transaxle.
On the inside, there’s black vinyl upholstery on the bucket seats, plus four-point harnesses. We’re guessing this car was built a while ago because the Kenwood sound system features a CD player.
The top is permanently open on this little Camaro and it’s a good thing since the doors don’t open. That means you have to climb in and out, which isn’t a difficult feat since the car is so small. We suppose at least some see the charm in this build, but its appeal is obviously limited.
