The Rolls-Royce Ghost Police Car Is Crazy

Estimated read time 2 min read

People have been freaking out about the Rolls-Royce Ghost being used by Miami Beach Police Department. It wears the traditional black and white color scheme you’re used to seeing on Dodge Chargers, Ford Crown Victorias, and the like only it’s an ultra-luxury sedan more likely to be spotted in the swankiest neighborhoods instead of being used to bust crackheads on the street corner.

Check out the classic Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with a Hellcat engine swap.

The 2012 Rolls-Royce Ghost isn’t exactly a new car, even though some have assumed it was purchased at the full price from the factory. In fact, the ultra-luxury ride wasn’t even bought by police but instead was donated by local luxury car dealer Braman Miami. It even says so on the fender, but then people find fault with the police advertising for a private business.

In fact, the wrap, lights, and even the gas are all paid for.

Just like any other Miami Beach police car, or other cruisers around the nation, it not only is marked as a law enforcement vehicle, it has key items displayed. One is the reminder to call 911 in an emergency. Another is the American flag on the C-pillar.

One of the big functions of this opulent police cruiser is to help with recruiting new officers. With the big anti-police push in 2020 we get constantly told didn’t actually happen, quite a few departments have struggled with recruiting. That results in worse police forces, burned out officers, and communities which suffer.

That’s why the rear bumper has language encouraging people to join Miami Beach Police. Considering how many people stare at the Ghost, take its picture, and spread images of it around online, its value as a recruiting tool is immeasurable. It’s even helped increase the department’s social media followers.

Before you start criticizing this Roll-Royce police car, know it’s not being used in chases or as a patrol vehicle. And it didn’t cost the taxpayers a red cent, which in our book is a huge plus.
