Yet another rapper is in trouble with the law, this time GloRilla (real name Gloria Hallelujah Woods), who was pulled over and cited for DUI on April 16. Bodycam footage of her arrest has dropped and it shows she wasn’t entirely cooperative with police in Gwinnett County, Georgia, going so far as to ask if they knew who she is.
Federal authorities reportedly seize Tekashi 6in9ine’s cars.
The original reason for the traffic stop was an officer observing her allegedly making a U-turn at a red light in her Maybach SUV (which looks rather dirty in the footage and that should be a crime itself).
Instead of pulling off the road, the rap star stops in the right lane of traffic, rolls her window only partway down, and mumbles some excuse about her GPS giving her directions when the officer explains the reason for the stop.
GloRilla has trouble finding her driver’s license, the officer pointing out where it is in her wallet, and in general just doesn’t seem with it. At least she didn’t try running away when the officer had her move to a safer location.
As the officer speaks with the rapper, who says she’s coming from an appearance somewhere, she smells alcohol on her breath and the aroma of marijuana coming from the SUV’s interior. But GloRilla claims she isn’t drunk and tries arguing with the cop.
Before the sobriety test, the musician keeps asking the officer if she knows who she is and the cop seems to legitimately have no idea, which apparently amuses GloRilla. But then she asserts that the officer is “picking on” her because she’s famous.
Based on the field sobriety tests and the rapper’s behavior in general, police arrest and cite her for driving under the influence. Like most people, she doesn’t seemed to pleased with the result but she also doesn’t put up a fight.
Being a rich rap star comes with many benefits. One of them is the ability to post bond quickly after getting arrested, with GloRilla being released only hours after being taken into custody. That doesn’t mean the end of her legal troubles, although her attorney will likely negotiate a deal with the prosecutor so the rapper doesn’t spend any more time behind bars.
