We’ve seen people throw rocks at cars on freeways before, something which sadly has turned fatal. But something a little different unfolded in Los Angeles recently when a man on the side of the 110 Freeway threw large rocks into the lanes of traffic, causing a motorcyclist to crash.
Actor shot dead by catalytic converter thieves.
It’s a bizarre story which appropriately comes out of a city that generates plenty of them, especially lately. A news crew was on the scene at 3:30 am on May 30 when the crash happened. Previously, OnScene TV captured a homeless man on the side of the 110 Freeway in South LA throwing large rocks onto the pavement.
In its report on the incident, Fox 11 says one of the rocks hit the motorcycle or the rider, causing the single-vehicle crash. Footage shows the bike kicking up a ton of sparks as it skids on its side at speed down the freeway, the rider also sliding across the pavement.
Reportedly, the rider wasn’t seriously injured. You can tell he’s wearing the proper equipment in the footage, obviously following the sage advice of dress for the slide, not for the ride. But we think his motorcycle is going to need some work.
Also fortunate, traffic was quite light at that time of the morning, so there were no cars to hit or run over the rider. Had it been a busy time of the day, the rock throwing could have easily turned fatal.
On top of that, multiple cars were damaged by the rocks which remained in the lanes of traffic. Several suffered flat tires, but no other specific damage was mentioned.
While the homeless man who did this apparently just walked away, California Highway Patrol is investigating. We have no idea if they’ll be able to identify the suspect or what might happen to him if they do and are able to track him down.
Stay safe out there, everyone.
