McLaren is preparing a carefully curated path for buyers hoping to secure one of the limited Project Endurance hypercars, a machine developed alongside its return to Le Mans in 2027. The automaker plans to produce only 30 to 35 customer examples, drawing heavily from its racing program as it builds both a competition entry and a non-competitive track version inspired by its 1995 victory.

The brand is not offering open access to the model. Instead, it will hand-pick applicants based on long-term loyalty, relevant track experience, and established relationships with its global retail network. McLaren operates more than 100 dealerships worldwide, many of which house multiple luxury and performance brands. Ultra-high-profile clients and experienced track drivers are expected to be among the early candidates. The company is also open to bringing in capable drivers from other marques if they fit the program’s criteria.
Project Endurance uses a race-built twin-turbo V6 hybrid powertrain developed with Italian constructor Dallara, which is supplying the chassis and conducting aerodynamic and dynamometer testing. The race entry will compete in the LMDh class, while the customer version will offer more power due to fewer regulatory limits. The competition model is expected to produce about 670 horsepower, while the customer car should approach roughly 730 horsepower, with performance designed to mirror the race car in expert hands.

McLaren plans to adjust tires, traction control, braking behavior, and power delivery to make the car approachable for skilled amateurs. The company will also integrate buyers directly into the development cycle. That includes simulator sessions, access to the endurance racing team, and attendance at testing events ahead of the 2027 season.
Over the next two years, owners will participate in multiple track experiences, including sessions at Silverstone and a night-driving event in Abu Dhabi meant to simulate Le Mans conditions. While customers won’t compete in the factory endurance campaign, McLaren expects them to experience the program closely as the brand pushes toward its targeted return to top-level sports car racing.
