People really love their pets and that’s certainly how seven time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton feels about his dog, Roscoe. The 12-year-old bulldog is in a coma after some medical problems, leading the driver to skip the Pirelli tire test with Ferrari today so he could be at the beloved canine’s side.
Lando Norris identifies McLaren’s Achilles heel.
Hamilton took to his popular Instagram account to give everyone an update on Roscoe, who apparently had trouble breathing after catching pneumonia, a problem he’s apparently struggled with in the past.
After being admitted to a pet hospital, the dog was sedated, then his heart stopped. Veterinarians were able to get his heart pumping again, but Roscoe is in a coma. Hamilton says they’re going to try waking him up tomorrow, but there’s a possibility this is the end of the road.
The F1 driver has asked everyone to keep his companion in their thoughts and thanked fans for their “prayers and support.”
Thankfully, Hamilton doesn’t have to choose between being with his dog at this time and missing a Grand Prix since there isn’t one this weekend.
Roscoe is apparently a vegan like his owner. He goes to Grands Prix with Hamilton, has his own Instagram account, and is given the royal treatment by Ferrari. He’s become a favorite of many F1 fans.
However, we know there’s a lot of controversy around how people regard their pets these days. While some fans are showing an outpouring of support for Roscoe, we’re sure many others feel indifferent or find it ridiculous the dog is receiving better medical care than many humans.
Our bigger concern is whether this will affect Hamilton’s performance next weekend in Singapore. After all, he’s really been struggling in his first season with Ferrari, torpedoing so many predictions he would be soaring and rising to new heights.
