We see a lot of people taking emergency vehicles, sometimes by force and sometimes out of sheer opportunity, but often we don’t see what comes of those cases. But one thief in Florida has learned his fate: 25 years in prison.
That sentence was handed down as part of a plea deal. The guy committed some other crimes, but among them was carjacking an EMS unit which showed up to provide him with medical treatment. Talk about a lack of gratitude.
According to Fox 13 Tampa Bay, one of the things going against Gregory Brian McGall was that his crimes were recorded, leaving no doubt about what he’d done. Prosecutors were ready to go for life in prison had he not accepted the plea deal.
It was back on March 22 when McGall went on quite the crime spree in Tampa. First, the man was involved in a crash at 2 am while behind the wheel of a stolen pickup truck. When an EMS Chevy Tahoe responded to the scene, McGall jumped into the cab and took off, leading police on a high-speed chase.
Not only did the guy end up crashing that Tahoe, during the chase he trashed a laptop in the vehicle and threw it out the window.
After the crash, McGall ran off on foot. Authorities later caught up to him when he was the passenger in a Nissan Altima. The driver, also a fugitive from the law, tried ramming his way out of a trap sprung by sheriff’s deputies.
Back in February, McGall kicked in a house’s front door, taking the keys to a car parked outside and driving off in it. The man seems to have a problem with stealing vehicles for whatever reason, but he won’t be doing that while in prison for a long time.
