Just about everyone knows about how T-Pain bought a Bugatti Veyron and other pricey rides, then had to sell them as he ran into financial trouble. But recently Akon went on a podcast and claimed T-Pain made that extravagant hypercar purchase to upstage him specifically.
Famous Formula One driver just did a sneaky thing.
Akon was on the Bag Fuel Podcast when the topic of T-Pain came up. The man said T-Pain reached a point in his career where he was trying to prove something to everyone, including Akon. One way he would do that was by buying flashy cars.
Despite Akon saying he discouraged his friend from buying expensive rides, he noticed every time he himself bought a new vehicle, T-Pain would purchase something flashier and more expensive. We’ve all known people like this who are desperately seeking to prove they’re good enough.
As we all know, the peak of this habit was T-Pain buying a Bugatti Veyron, which cost him over $1 million. Akon claims the rapper did it to just make other people in the industry look bad. It definitely turned heads and got people talking, so in a way the mission was accomplished.
When T-Pain unloaded the Veyron later, he said it was because of a costly repair he didn’t want to perform. But rumors swirled the rapper was in financial trouble. Since then, there have been many articles written about the man’s dwindling financial worth.
But T-Pain is still doing what he’s always done, buying expensive, flashy cars and making a big deal about it online. In fact, he recently took delivery of a very expensive Koenigsegg Regera, with the Swedish hypercar’s delivery broadcast on a livestream.
The Regera’s production was capped at a mere 80 units, so hat is quite the flex. So while people keep speculating the man is maxed out financially, T-Pain is still buying expensive rides, something Akon says is his way of showing how much better he is than others.
