People were shocked when Justin Timberlake was arrested for driving under the influence in Sag Harbor back in June. While many couldn’t believe the pop singer would do such a thing, us gearheads had a lot of questions about the BMW he was driving at the time. Finally, we’re getting some answers about what happened to his car and who rescued it from police custody.

In case you don’t know because you’ve never been pulled over for DUI, usually police have your car towed and impounded. That just adds to your list of problems, because then you’re paying storage fees and other fines before you can get your ride back.
And depending on where you live, you can’t even get your car from the storage lot for a set number of days. It’s a huge pain that Timberlake avoided all thanks to one of his drinking buddies.
That’s right, a woman who was in the car Justin was allegedly following at the time of his arrest was allowed by police to drive the BMW away after the singer was arrested. This is all according to TMZ, our favorite hard news publication.
The woman in the other car was the wife of the driver and Timberlake reportedly was following the couple back to their house so he could sleep it off or something. What’s more, the couple was at the social gathering with Justin, although we don’t know what the relationship is between them and him.
After the singer was pulled over, the man and woman circled back around and she got out of the car to talk to police. She must’ve been pretty polite, because a lot of times cops don’t like when you do that.
As she spoke with police, she asked, “Are you going to arrest Justin Timberlake?” But supposedly the arresting officer didn’t even know who the celebrity was. Now that’s hilarious.
She even tried sweet talking police into letting them drive Timberlake to their house instead of arresting him. That strategy didn’t work, obviously.
However, she was able to talk the cops into letting her drive the BMW to her house instead of it being towed. It was a rental, so perhaps the concern was all kinds of fines and fees for not retuning it on time?
But the real kicker according to TMZ’s source is that Timberlake’s lawyer is trying to get the whole case thrown out. After all, the cops let a woman who clearly had been drinking drive away in the rental BMW, calling their judgement into question. So the pop singer could be off the hook, although there’s no telling what will happen with his reputation moving forward.
