Usually when we see Humvees in the used car market they’re worse for wear after getting flogged by US soldiers for years on end. But this one we stumbled across on Facebook Marketplace looks clean as can be and is advertised as having just 10,000 miles on the clock. Plus, it has the gun turret, an option you don’t always find still mounted up.
Soldier reviews a Humvee compared to a Bugatti and it’s hilarious.
The guy who’s selling it says it was like the other Humvees we see sold off as military surplus. A lot of people buy those and just drive the truck as-is, content to not make it pretty or add much, using it as a weekend toy or a runabout on their ranch. But this man had a vision and he saw it through to the ultimate conclusion.
He jokes that people are reporting his ride to the military constantly, and we can see why. It looks good and to the untrained eye it appears to have been snagged right from the motor pool at a Marine or Army base.
According to the current owner, he collected parts for his M1165A1B3 over the years and fabricated what he couldn’t track down. That’s why some of the details look a little off. Plus, we bet the guy wanted a little bit more style than soldiers are allowed to have, and who can blame him?
Just like it looks in the pictures, the seller says this Humvee is fully armored. How that’s possible we’re not entirely sure, but the seller says it’s the “only one legally private (sic) owned.” That’s quite the claim but we’re guessing it’s in part why he’s asking $220,000 for the vehicle.
This military truck comes with the 6.5-liter turbodiesel engine and a 4-speed 4L80E transmission. The chassis apparently has 12,000 miles on it.
What you see on the exterior isn’t just a MAACO paint job but is in fact chemical agent resistant coating (CARC). This thing also comes with all kinds of toys like the roof turret with hand crank and electric motor drive, driver vision enhancer, VIC-3 intercom, and the objective gunners protection kit.
Even rarer is a Humvee with working air conditioning, which this apparently has.
But is this ride worth $220,000? To someone who has that kind of money to play around, quite possibly. If you’re interested in see the actual listing, it’s right here.
