A lot of people have sadly blown off the Diablo as an inferior successor to the venerable Lamborghini Countach. However, this example once owned by Donald Trump himself is creating a bit of a stir as it prepares to cross the auction block.
Learn about the prank Johnny Depp pulled on Amber Heard using her Mustang.
One of only 132 Lamborghini Diablo VT roadsters to be made, this isn’t a car you just see rolling down Main Street in your town on any given weekend. That alone should make it desirable for collectors, but when you add in the celebrity ownership the attraction multiplies.
Ordered from the factory by Trump, the former president was able to get some bespoke details thanks to a close relationship with Lamborghini. Trump was even provided with some Diablos on loan to help drum up interest in the supercar.
The Blu Le Mans paint looks absolutely stunning, a color not used on any other vehicle in 1997, ensuring this one is unique and a head-turner. But that’s not the end of the customized details. Trump opted for the cream and black two-tone interior, which actually pairs quite nicely with the exterior. There’s also a plaque on the driver’s door which reads “Donald Trump 1997 Diablo.”
Trump enjoyed this Diablo with its 5.7-liter V12, 5-speed manual transmission, and all-wheel drive all the way until he sold it in the summer of 2002. Since then it’s only had two owners, so you could be the next. However, we expect quite a few people will have their eye on this unique Italian supercar when it crosses the block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2024 event later this month.
Being a no reserve auction, anything could happen. Check out the lot listing to learn more here.
