Back in October 2024 we covered how actor Keanu Reeves made his racing debut in the Toyota GR Cup. The event, which was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, involved a field of racers all behind the wheel of a Toyota GR86 with the same spec. Now Toyota has released a mini documentary about the celebrity’s motorsports experience.

Some people were thinking Reeves would do some amazing thing in the race, and perhaps Toyota was hoping for such an event as it had a camera crew following his progress before, during, and after the event. However, the man was up against professional racers, people quite frankly with more experience than him.
And that was reflected in how things turned out. Considering the gap in skill, Reeves actually did amazingly well, but he didn’t get a podium finish. In fact, he finished 31st out of a field of 35 cars. Part of the reason for his placement was that he spun out a little over halfway through the race, right as he was coming out of Turn 9.
While Reeves didn’t wreck into another car or even hit a barrier, that mistake left him in the grass. But the fact he was able to keep the Toyota from crashing in an emergency like that is also impressive.
The Racing GRit documentary, which is just short of 17 minutes long, it starts with Reeves training for the race in Decatur, Texas at Eagles Canyon Raceway. Then it moves to the actual race and you get to see Reeves make the save when his car spins out – it’s pretty exciting stuff.
Reeves wasn’t the only celebrity to compete in the race. Cody Jones of Dude Perfect went through the same training alongside the actor and was also in the competition.
