It’s well known that actor and comedian Tim Allen is a car guy, including having a soft spot for cool motorcycles. That’s why he bought this Brawler GT-R from Darwin Motorcycles back in 2015. Having been displayed in the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, it’s fairly famous. It recently auctioned for far less than we would’ve thought.

Built as an answer to the Harley-Davidson FXR, some really admire these motorcycles, including most obviously Tim Allen. After all, it has a cool industrial look with the steel body finished with just a clear coat, no paint, buffalo-hide leather saddle, carbon-fiber front fender, plus it rolls on 17-inch BST carbon-fiber wheels.
The bike looks mean and lives up to its Brawler name. With a 124ci S&S Cycle T-Series V-twin engine plus a six-speed Rivera Primo it really rips. Plus, there are triple ISR disc brakes to keep that power in check and an Ohlins suspension to help with rider control.
Surprisingly, the top bid for this motorcycle on Bring A Trailer reached just $22,500 on December 9. As one commenter on the auction noted, that’s “a lot of bike for the money.” In other words, the person who got it is enjoying a great deal.
Just like with other lots on auction sites, bidding intensified right before the end. But the fact the motorcycle was owned by Tim Allen didn’t seem to spur people into going big with most of the final bids submitted in increments of $250 or $500. Some were as low as $100.
Some just assume any celebrity-owned ride will sell for a wad of cash at auction. This example should help clear up that assumption. Even when a celebrity is well-loved and the vehicle is compelling, sometimes the stars don’t line up and the top bid is shockingly little.
