While many people cherish their ’69 Camaro, few are anything like this build. The man who owns this American muscle car has poured some serious cash, time, and effort into creating something special, thanks in large part to a big blower bolted up to a big block engine.
Car enthusiast rants about city council going after hobbyists financially.
The guy’s grandpa originally purchased the Chevy 34 years ago. It had a blown motor and was pretty beat up, so he got it for a song and a dance. That meant a lot of wrenching on the thing, teaching the current owner a lot about cars.
But the current engine has only been in the 1969 Camaro for three years. It’s a 489ci big block V8 with an 871ci blower. The engine is built, too, but the owner builds engines for a living so that’s really not a shock, considering.
As for output, it’s making about 800-horsepower, probably more, but it hasn’t been put on a dyno. Backing that is a Turbo 400 and a Ford 9-inch rear with 3.73:1 gears.
Even more impressive, the beautiful blue paint job with white stripes was all done by the owner in his home garage. He’d never painted a car before but decided to give it a whirl, telling himself if it didn’t turn out he could have it professionally wrapped.
He also did the interior, including redoing the factory seats and welding in the cage. While it has some extra gauges and other mods, the overall feel honors the original setup by retaining the factory switchgear and gauge cluster, which is a nice homage to a muscle car legend.
This thing has serious chop and can lay down rubber for ages, making it a blast to watch in action, so check out the video review of it.
