We’ve all seen guys like this Lamborghini Gallardo driver who have a powerful car, thinking that makes them a good driver. But as the video recorded on a suburban Chicago street clearly demonstrates, that kind of attitude can lead to an expensive crash.
A new compact truck promises a low purchase price and more.
The cellphone footage, which was uploaded to YouTube way back in 2012, was recorded by a guy riding shotgun in the vehicle that was behind the Lambo. They were queued up in the left turn bay at a red light and knew the other driver was going to nail it once the light turned green.
It was rather obvious. While we’ve seen people in supercars and hypercars drive rather civilly on public roads, the Gallardo driver was rattling his saber, probably to get attention and feel cool, clearly indicating he was going to drop the hammer.
After all, in the footage he revs the V10 twice while sitting at the red light. In some cities that alone would be enough for a cop to issue a citation. That got the people in the camera car talking.
But we’re not sure they were expecting the Lamborghini to crash. They certainly expect the Italian supercar to take off, which no doubt was why the front passenger was recording.
Once the light turns green, to his credit the Gallardo driver doesn’t nail it off the line, he enters the left turn rather tamely. But, as the supercar is completing that turn, he just sends it and immediately loses control.
We wonder if it was his first time driving the thing. Or maybe the tires were cold. Something was going on, because once the guy let it rip he was crossing the painted median, going into oncoming traffic that was fortunately stopped, and wedges the Lambo between a Lincoln Continental and Honda CR-V.
Obviously, this is not how to drive your Lamborghini!
