Few would ever considering mixing a rare Lamborghini LM002 with an American engine, especially a Cummins diesel. Just the fact a mere 328 of the rugged Italian off-road rigs were made ensures most are kept in impeccable, original condition. That’s what makes the Cummins Lambo such a shocking build.

What’s even more insane is Jim and Michael Carpenter, a father and son who like to wrench on cars together, dropped a Cummins 5.9-lier diesel engine from a Ram truck they found in a junkyard into an LM002.
After all, such a move no doubt diminishes the value of the Lamborghini, which is worth several hundred thousand if original and restored. But the Carpenters aren’t just your average gearheads with no sense. The two restore Ferraris and other Italian rarities professionally, so this sort of project is more in their wheelhouse.
Still, the pairing a Cummins diesel engine from a junked Ram truck with a Lamborghini LM002 to some will be tantamount to automotive blasphemy, similar to the Curruptt Mustang with its Ferrari engine.
But there are fans of this odd build. Some call it the Ramborghini and the thing has acquired quite the following online.
The Carpenters saved the Lamborghini LM0002 from possibly being scrapped or crushed after the owner sold the engine to another party. That might sound absolutely insane because it is. But the truck was in sad shape and the owner had been through the wringer trying to restore it. Thankfully, the Carpenters rescued the rig.
Instead of just throwing in the Cummins engine, hey built it up some, adding a nice 68mm turbo along with other upgrades, boosting power. After all, having a slow Lambo just isn’t right.
As you can clearly see, they not only got the LM002 fully buttoned up, they added some aesthetic upgrades to make it look great and tougher than ever. We love seeing special vehicles that are in peril get rescued and turned into something even better.
