Legendary female tennis player Pam Shriver is reeling after thieves stole her Dodge Durango Hellcat which contained some of her trophies. The retired athlete and her family had evacuated from this Pacific Palisades home thanks to the fire which ripped through that part of Los Angeles and were staying in a hotel when the high-powered crossover was stolen.
Lewis Hamilton suits up for Ferrari, finally.
Shriver realized the Hellcat had been stolen when she went out early on the morning of January 16 to head to the gym. When she didn’t find the crossover, she said at first she didn’t want to believe it had been stolen. Denial is often one of the firs responses for victims.
However, Shriver saw broken glass near where she left the Dodge, and the reality of the situation came crashing down on her. The hotel where Shriver and her family stayed was in Marina del Rey.
In an interview with KTLA she openly worried about the trophies left in the back of the Durango. She also said some photographic artwork which was also in the vehicle had been found in South Los Angeles, so the Hellcat at least passed through that part of town.
We wish Shriver had installed at least one GPS tracker on her Dodge. That would’ve made recovering it a possibility. Now, she’s at the mercy of whoever stole it.
Sadly, some people take advantage when tragedies like fires strike, instead of choosing to pull together and help the victims. Shriver expressed disappointment at this, saying people need to act more selflessly in desperate times.
But looters have been arrested by authorities as some seek to take advantage of homes with valuables left behind by those who fled during the evacuation order. This is a sad reality of human nature, that to some they see these tragedies as a way to take whatever they want.
