When you’re incredibly rich, we guess there’s no limit to your appetite for cool toys, which is why this Dutch-made super submarine has been launched into the market. Called the Super Sub by maker U-Boat Worx, it can rocket through the waters with up to three people onboard, making the perfect addition to any superyacht.
A wildfire melted a Toyota Tacoma, but it still runs.
Not only does the Super Sub look sleek, that design has been crafted to cut through the water fast. With four thrusters churning out 60 kW of thrust and a top speed of 10 knots (the company claims most competitors go 3 knots), this is the closest you’re going to get to a sports car, maybe even a supercar, when it comes to submersibles.
According to U-Boat Worx, the Super Sub can descend up to 300 meters below the surface and can climb or dive sharply at up to 30 degrees. It’s also highly maneuverable. Even better, the way the cockpit is designed gives everyone a 360-degree view of the magical underwater surroundings.
There are plenty of technological goodies onboard. For example, the Marlin Controller allows someone to pilot the craft while it’s on the surface without being inside. This helps make launches and recoveries safer, plus it can be used to keep the Super Sub in position over a dive site without the pilot remaining at the controls.
A deadman’s switch safety system requires the pilot to respond every 10 minutes the Super Sub is underwater. If the pilot doesn’t, like if he is incapacitated, the craft will automatically ascend by itself, a genius feature owners probably hope they never have to use.
We’re sure this battery-powered personal submarine is a blast to cruise around in under the ocean, checking out the fish and whatever else lurks below the surface. However, we’re also sure if you have to wonder about how much it costs, you likely can’t afford it.
