A dramatic scene unfolded in Toronto recently as police on horseback cornered a stolen Ram 1500 in the downtown area. Multiple witnesses captured the chaos unfold as the suspect battled it out with cops, ultimately crashing into a storefront.
See the untimely demise of a Ram truck at the beach.
We know what you’re thinking: horses really can’t do anything against a car, let alone a full-size truck. That would be an accurate assessment. We only get footage partway through the confrontation as three mounted officers and one in a cruiser corner the suspect.
After going nose-to-nose with a police Ford Explorer, the suspect reverses the Ram then takes off before hitting another cruiser, crashing into the storefront. Somewhere in the chaos the truck hits and injures one of the horses, the other two mounted officers galloping down the road to dole out some justice.
As the suspect runs down the sidewalk after crashing, police chasing him on foot and on horseback, a regular citizen who was filming everything sticks his leg out, tripping the suspect. Now that’s hilarious!
But in all seriousness, we have to warn everyone that engaging in vigilante acts is dangerous. So if you do, just remember you might get hurt. Same thing applies to crossing the street. Or taking a shower. Just so you know.
The suspect was eventually chased down and caught. What started the whole sequence was a license plate reader getting a hit on the truck’s tag.
We hope the police horse makes a full recovery.
Car theft continues to be a major problem in the Greater Toronto Area, even though police in the region have busted up a number of theft rings. Just like in many other cities, the problem has proven to be difficult to stamp out.
That’s concerning because many times these stolen vehicles are used to commit other crimes, like in this case. Since the guy driving the Ram has zero concern for the truck, he had no problem using it as a weapon against police and in the process almost mowing down innocents.
