For many, the dream of owning a split-window 1963 Corvette might seem distant, but you can have a crack at one auctioning online right now. A beautiful red over black example being sold with a clean title is also sitting at just over $53,000 for the top bid at the time this article was originally published.
An American performance icon is coming back.
There’s no telling for sure in the final day the C2 Corvette is on the virtual auction block just how high the bidding will climb. But sometimes things can fly under the radar or people just figure the amount will be too high, so they don’t jump in the ring.

Even though this car was originally Daytona Blue, we think it looks fantastic in red. The seller says a previous owner also replaced the rotted original frame, while the paint was corrected on a number of body panels in November 2024.
While the interior was originally red, with the change of the paint we think it looks great in black. It appears factory correct, however additional noise insulation has been added along with Vintage Air AC, a Hurst shifter, plus a head unit with Bluetooth connectivity.

What might really disappoint some is to learn the split-window ’63 Corvette doesn’t have the original engine. Instead, it has a 327ci that was rebuilt and put into the classic sports car back in 2022 by Performance Engineering in West Virginia. According to the seller, only 400 miles have been put on the Chevy since the engine was installed.
That Hurst shifter connects to a factory-original four-speed manual transmission, which is a huge plus. That and the rear end have both apparently been rebuilt, so they should be good for some time.

While not the most original 1963 Chevy Corvette on the market, it might be one you can actually afford. Imagine driving around in this thing, taking it to meets and shows, and all the stares you’d get. Like we said, it’s auctioning right now on Bring A Trailer with the auction ending on May 4.
