Just like us and many other gearheads, Shaq can’t just leave a car factory spec, including his new Lucid Air EV. The former professional basketball player recently showed off his custom ride that was done by none other than West Coast Customs, made famous (or infamous) by the Pimp My Ride show back in the day.
Learn why Shaq keeps buying supercars he can’t fit inside.
Instead of being a svelte sedan, Shaq’s Lucid Air is now a coupe. The rear doors have been deleted and the remaining ones lengthened considerably. Considering the NBA legend measures 7’1” it’s understandable why the man would want the extra space for getting in and out of his electric car.
According to Shaq, West Coast Customs modified the Lucid so it looks like the man’s Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which was also customized by the same company. The move works incredibly well since the Air already has a “four-door coupe” design.
Among the other modifications done to the EV are black multi-spoke aftermarket wheels featuring self-centering caps with the Superman logo, something Shaq likes to work into many of his builds. While the rear light assembly still reads “Lucid”, in the front the lettering has been changed so it reads “Diesel.” That’s a bit ironic but is also a nod to the man’s stalled music career.
There don’t seem to be too many customized Lucids out there, perhaps because the US automaker is still establishing itself in the market. But we know when celebrities like Shaq do this sort of thing, others tend to follow, so he might have sparked a new trend. The car looks good, so we wouldn’t mind seeing more builds like this.
We’re also wondering if Shaq has already grabbed a Lucid Gravity, the brand’s first SUV model. He’s a big fan of the Tesla Cybertruck, as well as the Ram TRX, showing he has a big appetite for performance trucks.
