Tom Guiry, who as a child played Scotty Smalls in the classic family movie The Sandlot, was arrested recently after he smashed a Jeep’s windshield using a dumbbell. He was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and battery plus malicious injury to personal property. The man was released the next day on a $1,000 bond.

The incident in question took place on June 2 in the Burgess area of South Carolina when Guiry allegedly threw a 35-pound dumbbell through the windshield of a Jeep. He’s accused of then going to a man’s front door while holding a knife, reports WBTW.
When police arrived, Guiry was standing in the road inquiring about his wife being safe. That’s when the unidentified owner of the Jeep yelled “really, my window’s been shattered” to which Guiry allegedly replied with “that sucks man, I’ll pay you back, I’m sorry, I’m gonna get you back.”
We can empathize with the anger of the Jeep owner. If someone threw a 35-pound dumbbell through our windshield we would have some choice words and probably more.
It’s not clear what precipitated the dumbbell throwing or why Guiry had a dumbbell with him at the time. From the sound of things, it seems the incident had something to do with his wife, but that could be any number of possibilities.
This isn’t the first brush with the law Guiry has experienced. Back in August 2013 he was arrested for allegedly headbutting a police officer at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. Accordign to CBS News, he was intoxicated at the time. We think it’s safe to say Guiry has shed his clean cut image completely.
Guiry had his breakout role as Scotty Smalls in The Sandlot. He later starred in movies such as Lassie, The Last Home Run, Wrestling with Alligators, and Black Hawk Down. He’s been in other movies since, but has never been able to replicate the fame from his first film.
