Ringbrothers is at it again, this time with a 1987 Buick Grand National built to whip out a thunderous 1,246-horsepower using the factory V6, not an LS swap. With the SEMA 2024 show about to break, we’re going to see some crazy builds. It’s not surprising that Ringbrothers has been cooking up something special, although the teaser for this car is enough to astound pretty much anyone.
YouTubers show what daily driving their project car is like.
While we only get images of the ride in silhouette, we do know some details. The Wisconsin performance shop has revealed this build is called Invadr, an interesting choice which does keep in the theme of past builds’ monikers.
The 3.8-liter V6 might be in theory similar to what comes from the factory, but the internals are undoubtedly quite different. Plus, to achieve that lofty power figure, Ringbrothers ditched the single turbocharger, opting for a matching pair.
Purists won’t like that choice, but we think it’s a bold move to keep the V6 when pumping a V8 for gobs of power would’ve been so much easier. Making this car even more interesting is the fact it comes with a 6-speed manual instead of some automatic or paddle shifter nonsense.
But it’s not just the powertrain which has been tweaked, made obvious in the silhouetted images released by Ringbrothers. You can tell the hood bulges more and there are other cosmetic tweaks to make the Buick appear more sinister and intimidating.
For the 2024 SEMA Show, Ringbrothers will be displaying two other builds. One is a 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda called Infected, featuring a color the shop says people will either love or hate, plus an extended wheelbase and some custom bodywork. On the performance end, it will pack a Hellcat Redeye powertrain.
The other build is called Tuka, a 1972 Chevy Blazer which is supposed to feature meticulous bodywork that leaves every panel changed from the original.
All three cars will be unveiled on November 5 in Las Vegas.
