Richmond Auctions is preparing to host one of the most anticipated collector events of the year — the sale of Zaxby’s co-founder Tony Townley’s legendary private car and sign collection. The two-day auction will take place October 24–25, 2025, in Bogart, Georgia, and marks the first time Townley’s extensive personal collection will be offered to the public.

Known for his success in business and his lifelong love of American automotive and advertising history, Townley has spent decades curating an extraordinary group of vintage automobiles, tractors, and petroliana. The upcoming auction, dubbed The Tony Townley Collection, represents what organizers are calling a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors.
“This isn’t just an auction — it’s an era on display,” said Jordan Richmond, founder of Richmond Auctions. “The Townley Collection captures American horsepower, brand history, and emotional nostalgia in every piece.”
Among the highlights are a 1929 Duesenberg Model J, a 1930 Cadillac V-16 Sport Phaeton, and a fuel-injected 1957 Airbox Corvette. For muscle car enthusiasts, standout offerings include a 1965 Shelby GT350, an unrestored 1969 Yenko Camaro, a 3,000-mile 1969 Dodge Daytona, and a 1971 ’Cuda Hemi 4-speed.
In addition to cars, the event will feature over 400 pieces of vintage signage and memorabilia, including rare neon and porcelain gas station signs, oil company logos, and Americana artifacts that celebrate a century of roadside culture.
“What makes this auction unique is the opportunity to buy exceptional cars across multiple brands, all from one owner,” said Mike McCandless, Richmond Auctions co-founder and curator of the McCandless Collection museum in Burlington, North Carolina.

A public preview will take place October 20–22 at the Bogart location, less than 90 minutes from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Bidders may participate in person, online, or by phone.
Richmond Auctions, which recently surpassed $100 million in gross sales in under four years, continues to build its reputation as one of the leading names in collector car and petroliana sales. The company made headlines earlier this year for achieving a world-record price for a 1929 Musgo Gasoline sign.
With the Tony Townley Collection, Richmond Auctions aims to blend the best of American craftsmanship, design, and nostalgia into a single landmark event for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
