As we reported before, Ram is coming back to NASCAR and CEO Tim Kuniskis seems ecstatic about the move. The man went on Harvick’s Happy Hour for NASCAR on Fox, explaining why the iconic truck brand has gravitated back to the motorsport after staying away for so long.
Learn why Jimmie Johnson thinks more horsepower in NASCAR isn’t a good thing.
During the interview, which lasted just over 26 minutes, Kuniskis dropped quite a few interesting nuggets of information. For one, he revealed the plan is to field four trucks into the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series when the season opens at the Daytona International Speedway February 13, 2026.
But Kuniskis confirmed the teams aren’t formed quite yet, so there’s plenty of work to do done between now and then.

Kuniskis said the biggest concern about Ram returning to NASCAR is that he needs to open a path for Ram to be in the Cup Series because drivers want to progress from trucks to the top series while staying with the same brand.
When asked why Ram was returning now for the 2026 season, Kuniskis was upbeat, saying the truck brand has been monitoring things and it was “the right time.” What exactly that means wasn’t expounded upon, but the man did say Ram is “all-in” with NASCAR.
One thing Kuniskis didn’t get into was anything related to Dodge returning to NASCAR. With Ram coming back after it left in 2012, many have naturally assumed that means Dodge will be joining the Cup Series, fielding at least a few Chargers.
But such an announcement hasn’t come. Why still isn’t clear and Kuniskis, who was CEO of Dodge before he left Stellantis for a time, isn’t saying anything about that. We think some people were hoping he would let the cat out of the bag about the fellow Mopar kissing and making up with NASCAR as well.
Instead, everyone’s left to wait and wonder what’s going on there.
