Not since 2009 has Ralph Lauren’s 1995 Ferrari F50 been seen in public, but the Italian supercar is ready to break an auction record. Set to cross the block in Monterey during the RM Sotheby’s event, it’s estimated by the auction house to sell for between $6.5 million and $7.5 million, blowing away the previous auction record for an F50, which currently stands at $5.5 million.
You can see Ken Block’s Hoonitruck in person right now.
That’s a lot of cash to shell out for a vehicle, but this Ferrari has more than just fabulous celebrity ownership propping up its value. However, the fact it was ordered new by the fashion mogul, who maintained an amazing car collection, and was retained by Lauren for eight years certainly isn’t hurting its value.

Nor is the fact it’s one of just two US-spec Ferrari F50s ordered in Giallo Modena. That sets it apart from the other 348 cars in existence. It also has a Nero interior for a spectacular pairing.
When Lauren sold the F50 in 2003, it had just 3,300 miles on the clock. Since then it has been with two Ferrari dealers until the current owners, a husband and wife, retained and have kept sole ownership of the supercar.
They’ve not only kept it looking great, they’ve kept miles off it, with the odometer only showing 5,400 miles. It sounds like they have other Ferraris to enjoy, which probably helped decrease the temptation to use this one more.

Of course, this Ferrari is well documented and was recently serviced by a Ferrari dealer where multiple aging components were replaced. Last year, the owners had the Ferrari Classiche Certification of this F50 reviewed and renewed, meaning a new Red Book is coming in time for the auction.
In other words, this well-documented Ferrari F50 is in fantastic, highly original condition with low mileage, plus a famous first owner. All of that is combining for what might be a lofty new auction record.
