A car YouTuber has quite the story to tell after his Liberty Walk Ferrari 360 Modena was seized by US Customs after he tried importing it from Japan. The guy had driven the Italian with flamboyant mods all over Japan before he had it loaded onto a ship and brought stateside. That’s when the trouble began.
Another YouTuber bought what he says is the first crashed Lamborghini Revuelto.
Once the container arrived at the Port of Oakland, US Customs claims to have found radiation on it. That meant the immediate seizure of the Liberty Walk Ferrari, which apparently contained the YouTuber’s personal belongings and souvenirs he picked up while touring the country in his new ride.
We can’t imagine how that feels. The guy bought at auction in another country an amazing dream ride, a car most would kill to own. Then he was able to drive it around that country, learning about the local automotive culture, having incredible experiences.
Trusting that the company he paid handsomely to transport the vehicle would be honest, he likely never dreamed the real problem would be US authorities. Yet we find stories somewhat similar to this one far too often.
Other enthusiasts who have imported a foreign car that’s met the 25 year rule have been shocked to find it suddenly seized for some odd, rather questionable reason which quite frankly seems made up.
In this case, the YouTuber, illiminate, leveraged his more than one million subscribers and found some of them work at the Port of Oakland, including in management. Speaking with them, he concluded eventually the broker he was working with was at least part of the problem.
With a new broker onboard, the YouTuber got more information, learning the shipping container was flagged for radiation after it X-rayed, but it hadn’t been tested or examined further. The previous broke wouldn’t help him get an independent examination, saying Customs wanted it on the next boat to Japan.
Speaking with Customs officers directly, he got more of the same. This situation seems odd, to say the least, if not downright fishy. What do you think is going on with the Liberty Walk Ferrari?
