Everyone loves a good Pro Street build, and this ’67 Chevy Nova SS executes so very well. With a true rock n’ roll personality, this is the kind of ride that turns heads while slaying plenty of tires. It looks like it has a blower, but in fact it doesn’t, which is an interesting design cue.
Check out the sleeper Chevelle a teenager built in his garage.
As the owner says in the video review, he loves this era of Novas and it’s easy to see why. After all, you don’t spot many of these just on the road these days, not like you do Camaros or Mustangs, so just their presence will catch attention. But this one with the blower up front and tubbed rear wheels will really get some looks.
Under the hood is an LS3 V8 crate engine making 525-horsepower, which is a good amount for a muscle car like this. It’s a fuel injected engine, but it has carbs, just the fuel inlets are blocked off, so they’re functioning like throttle bodies instead.
Back that engine is a 5-speed manual transmission. The rear is a 12-bolt with a Detroit Truetrac differential, a setup the owner says just hooks. That’s great, because not being able to lay down power off the line makes for a less enjoyable experience when driving around town, not to mention at the track.
A custom exhaust system from the headers to finisher not only sounds great, but was designed to help with evacuating the cylinders optimally. The wheels are also custom made and they look fantastic.
When the owner got his hands on this ride, the old Pro Street Nova was a bit of a mess. It apparently was sloppy in its handling, had electric-assist brakes that didn’t work right, and other issues. He not only put in the LS3 but replaced the brakes, suspension, and more to get it driving safely and to be more enjoyable on the road.
