Volvos are known for being rather safe cars – their drivers not so much – as clearly demonstrated by this guy in an old Volvo wagon backing into a Ferrari F40. How the crash happened is crazy and the results are unbelievable in a way. But wait until you learn where this went down and you’ll really be amazed.
Watch an incredible Ferrari F40 unboxing video.
First of all, a Ferrari F40, especially one in red, is the kind of supercar most people can’t miss seeing. They have a dangerous look about them even non-gearheads recognize immediately. How anyone could miss the thing and back into one is just beyond us.
What makes that worse is the Volvo driver was reversing into a road. In other words, it was completely the wagon’s fault, not the Ferrari driver’s. With the collision caught on camera, it seems any doubt about culpability is pretty much nonexistent.
Even worse, this crash went down in Germany, a country that famously makes it difficult for drivers to get their license. We don’t know if the Volvo driver lives in Germany, but it’s rare we see accidents like this in the country.
Adding to the stupidity of this crash is the fact it happened at a gas station right by the Nurburgring. In other words, there are a lot of expensive performance cars around there all the time. If you’re going to choose somewhere to recklessly back into an active lane of traffic, this might be one of the worst spots to pick.
Fortunately, the Volvo brick didn’t crunch the beautiful F40. Instead, the exhaust hit the Ferrari, causing some paint and light body damage. It could’ve been so much worse. Plus, the wagon was damaged far more. Still, work on an F40 isn’t cheap, so the other driver’s insurance isn’t going to like this claim one bit.
