Godzilla is legendary among many gearheads, but Nissan is known for keeping things fresh using limited-run special edition versions of cars. The automaker recently announced the 2024 Nissan GT-R lineup will be getting two: the Skyline Edition and T-spec Takumi Edition.

For fans of the Skyline who live on this side of the Pacific, having the legendary name finally officially applied to the R35 is a big deal. The Nissan GT-R Skyline Edition is based on the GT-R Premium but comes with iconic Bayside Blue paint and a complimentary Sora Blue interior.
Those who know Godzilla are aware Nissan never used Bayside Blue after the R34 ended production, except for the 2019 50th anniversary edition. Now it’s back and we expect many longtime fans to be eagerly trying to get their hands on one of these.
As for the GT-R T-spec Takumi Edition, Nissan says it was created to honor the takumi masters who assemble each engine by hand, signing their name to the work. To emphasize this honor, the engine badge will come with red-etched writing and the VIN plate will be gold.
But what most will notice first about these cars will be the unique Midnight Purple paint, a color used on the R34 in limited quantities, making it sought-after by collectors. The interior will feature Mori Green trim to boot.
This special edition isn’t just about looks, with mechanical changes including NISMO carbon-ceramic brakes, 20-inch NISMO RAYS wheels painted gold, flared out front fenders, and NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control.
Nissan hasn’t divulged any pricing info for these two special edition GT-R models. It sounds like other details about them will be coming down the pipeline as well. About all we do know is dealers should be getting them sometime during the summer and that production will be “very limited.”
