Out of the factory, a Polaris Xpedition side-by-side already sells for enough to make some people blush. After all, a two-door is going to run you somewhere around $40,000 and a four-door is at least several thousand more. But if you want to push the little adventure vehicle further, you can get one that’s been modified seven ways to Sunday by UpFit UTV.
This Toyota Land Cruiser overlander build takes a fresh approach.
We ran across one of these fine machines on Facebook Marketplace recently with the listing price of $76,994. That ignited a bit of a debate about whether or not such a vehicle is worth that lofty amount.

Before you draw a hard conclusion, you should know how the thing has been built. Since the purpose is to head into the backcountry and not get stranded, the side-by-side has been pushed to extreme performance with that goal in mind.
First off, there’s a 72-inch long travel kit for the suspension, allowing for amazing articulation. The shocks, springs, plus front/rear sway bars have all been upgraded, too.
Both the front and rear bumpers have been swapped for aftermarket units. Up front there’s a winch integrated into the bumper and in the rear there are auxiliary lights. A-pillar lights have also been added, plus there are puddle and rock lights, so nighttime adventures won’t involve poor visibility.

This side-by-side rolls on massive 35-inch tires, so it’s not exactly just a little toy anymore, allowing it to take on some big obstacles while also increasing ground clearance.
Since this is intended to be used as an overlander, some comforts have also been added. Among them is a Dometic AC/DC fridge/freezer and heated seats for the front as well as the rear. There’s also a low-profile full roof rack.
Even with these additions, some people are going to have trouble paying what is a luxury car price for a side-by-side of any kind. We get it, this isn’t exactly cheap. Just like how Jeeps have grown in size, features, and price, the UTV market is going through similar motions.
The question we have to ask is does that make this modified Polaris Xpedition worth almost $77,000 to you? Let us know what you think and check out the listing for yourself here.
